The reason you don't have to enter a password when launching the game through Steam is that Steam does store and use your password for the account since it is the only one that is allowed to be linked via Jagex, unless you choose to unlink it and later link some other account to Steam./r/runescape is a subreddit dedicated to the MMORPG RuneScape. Please someone correct me if that's not right but I believe it is.Īnd while Steam does have customer support, I don't believe they'd be any help in this instance since all they're authorized to do is run the game through Jagex's launcher and not directly themselves through the client. You would only be able to do that if you played outside of Steam - OSRS directly by launching Runelite yourself while not doing so through Steam. But, and here's where it's different for OSRS as opposed to RS3, when it comes to running the game through Runelite, I don't believe Steam can or would be able to do that since Runelite is a 3rd party add-on and Steam only redirects to an official game launcher for Jagex, meaning it wouldn't be capable of running OSRS through Runelite. As far as I'm aware, and I could be wrong about this, Steam retains your password only for the active account that is currently linked to it through the Jagex web site.
